CPD Funding

What is CPD Funding?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) funding is received from NHS England and set aside by the Training Hub to support eligible staff working in BSW primary care to access CPD funds, which are managed flexibly for individuals and groups of staff.

Eligible Staff

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners
  • Nurse Specialists
  • Extended Role Nurses
  • Nursing Partners
  • Practice Nurses
  • Podiatrists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Therapists
  • Paramedics
  • Nurse Associates

What can the funding be used for?

The CPD funding can be used to access courses; virtual and face-to-face study days; university level accredited modules; subscriptions to clinical portals; training and associated travel costs; conferences and events relevant to the profession and practice development programmes.

It can only be used to access CPD and not for backfilling, equipment, administration or travel costs. It can be carried over into the next financial year as part of a more expensive course.

Ideally CPD needs will have already been identified as part of an annual appraisal process between the eligible staff member and line manager.
