BSW Training Hub was formed by merging three separate hubs on 1 April 2020, when three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) merged to form the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire CCG, now Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon & Wiltshire Integrated Care Board (ICB). The ICB host the BSW Training Hub.
Training Hubs are a ‘go to’ place for information and practical assistance with education, training and development for multi-disciplinary teams working in primary care. All Training Hubs are involved with:
Recruitment and retention of staff
Maximising access to training
Development and support of new roles / new ways of working
Supporting leadership
Wellbeing offers, and so much more!
We meet our goals in a number of ways, examples are:
Our team work with PCNs and practices to support and increase the number of high quality placements available within primary care for pre and post registration students, such as GPs, nurses, paramedics and physiotherapists.
Hosting a free recruitment website for primary care – www.BSWGeneralPracticeJobs.nhs.uk – and promoting NHS primary care careers within local schools and higher education institutions.
Working closely with education providers to ensure that training is available for staff working within primary care teams. In many cases BSW Training Hub funds or subsidises this training through CPD budgets.
Supporting the introduction and further development of new roles within primary care, particularly those introduced as part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme.
Monitoring the workforce numbers in primary care and beyond, and working with practices and PCNs to help supply sufficient staff to ensure high-quality care.
Advise with workforce planning and training needs analysis, to help find which roles best meet the needs of patients and practice population.
Support PCNs to become approved learning environments to enable the governance for placements for a variety of trainees and students.
Work to develop and retain as many staff as possible by providing suitable mentoring programmes, including recruiting and training mentors.
