Michelle Trenwith

Medical Administrator

Prior to joining the NHS, I worked in an administrative and finance role for the MOD at various military camps across the country. However, six years ago, my family and I relocated to Wiltshire, where I embarked on my NHS career.

I initially started as a receptionist in a dispensing GP surgery, where I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to advance and complete my NVQ Level 2 in GP Dispensing. Alongside dispensing, I also expanded my responsibilities to include roles in Cytology and referral administration within the surgery.

In 2019, I transitioned to The Castle Practice, where I continued to progress and enhance my knowledge in medical administration. It wasn’t long before I was promoted to the position of reception supervisor. During the pandemic, I utilised my spare time to successfully complete the AMSPAR Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration and Terminology. This achievement has boosted my confidence and enabled me to assist in the development and training of new staff members.

Throughout my time at The Castle Practice, I have furthered my professional development by obtaining my IOSH certification in Managing Health and Safety. Additionally, I attended a Health and Safety course for Practice Managers. As a result, I am now responsible for overseeing health and safety within the practice, including risk assessments, and implementing relevant policies. Other responsibilities of my role include managing rotas for all clinical and administrative staff, within the practice, taking responsibility to ensure we have capacity to cope with patient demand/ access, and ensuring all clinical appointments are mapped to the relevant categories to enable the General Practitioner Appointments Dashboard (GPAD) to extract the correct data.

I constantly strive to find opportunities for improvement and have recently been accepted into a admin fellowship in the BSW Training Hub promoting the use of total triage via Accurx in the BSW area.

Moving forward, I have set my sights to progress into a management role and would like to complete a management qualification to underpin this, developing my skills and knowledge to excel in a leadership position within Healthcare.
