Flu Update Morning for HCAs

This half day live-online, instructor led course is suitable for any HCA/HCPs who are already trained in the administration of the influenza vaccination and requiring an annual update ahead of the current season. As seasonal flu changes every year, it is essential that skills and competency are refreshed to maintain evidence of best practice and provide safe, effective delivery of the vaccination programme.
Aims
This live, online, trainer led workshop will revisit the necessary learning for influenza, with case studies and discussion to explore those difficult scenarios alongside a quiz assessment of knowledge and skills. Delegates will have an opportunity to revisit competency frameworks and have access to all the necessary paperwork for a robust, efficient clinic.
Objectives
Following attendance the HCA/HCP will:
- have refreshed knowledge and skills ahead of the flu season
- be able to discuss the vaccination choices for the relevant cohorts and articulate why there are a range
- Have updated legal frameworks and competency documentation
- be able to recognise their own scope of practice and know when to refer on
Content
Course content will include:
- Refreshing knowledge of influenza viruses
- Documentation and Governance of practice
- Knowledge of NMC guides to medicine management and patient specific directives
- This seasons flu campaign, including an overview of recent changes to the programme
- Assessment of learning
Please note: It is really important that practitioners have the fundamental knowledge and competency required to enable them to progress to vaccine specific courses and for treatment injectables such as Flu, Pneumococcal, Shingrix, Vitamin B12 & Prostap.
