DESCRIPTION:This training is ideal for all Practice Managers\, PCN Managers and anyone working in finance within GP practices and PCNs. The session is led by Matt Perkins\, a PM Supporter and Business Manager who currently runs a single practice / PCN across 4 sites with a patient population of 33\,500. DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nThings don’t always go smoothly in primary care\, and occasionally there are adverse outcomes that we and our patients encounter. This session is specifically designed to support clinicians. \nAims & Objectives\nThis workshop will look at the most constructive ways that we can reflect on and learn from complaints and other significant events\, and promote a no blame culture within the organisations we work in \nContent\nWe will look at the regulatory and practical aspects of the NHS complaints procedure and discuss how to respond to and manage a complaint most effectively\, as well as the human side in coping when “that” dreaded letter / email arrives. Using a case-based approach we will try to understand: \n\nWhy patients complain\nHow we can try to ensure we work collaboratively with patients who complain.\nHow we can learn from complaints as constructively as possible.\n\nThis event is not being recorded

SUMMARY:Specialist Safeguarding Topics - Level 3 for GPs\, AHPs & GPNs
DESCRIPTION:This session teaches on the specialist safeguarding topics that may not be so commonly encountered in primary care. \nTopics will cover are the things that would not be routinely covered in a level 3 safeguarding course as follows:  A brief overview will be given along with recent updates and relevant referral information. \nContent\n\nPerplexing Presentations and Fabricated/Induced Illness\nInsufficient parental capacity\nNon-standard treatments (e.g. spinal injections of stem cells as a treatment for autism) and where this might become safeguarding\nOnline abuse\nContest/Prevent\nContextual abuse/Harm outside the home\,\nCounty Lines\, exploitation\,\nHonour Based Violence\,\nFGM\, breast ironing and abdominal scarification\n\nFor the first hour\, Dr Helen Thomas will discuss the risks navigated by our young people online. This includes the risk of inappropriate content such as graphic images and cyber bullying as well as the risks to mental health around pervasive algorithms and isolation. As our young people spend more time on devices than ever before\, this talk will also equip delegates with the tools to identify and manage problematic smartphone use and promote healthy habits for us all. \nThe rest of the session will be delivered by Dr Michelle Sharma. \nWhy join this session?\n\nBe prepared for the uncommon but high-risk\nEven if these safeguarding issues arise infrequently\, when they do occur they often carry significant risk and complexity. Being prepared matters.\nBuild confidence in complex situations\nGain clarity on how to recognise concerns\, respond appropriately\, and know when and how to escalate.\nReduce uncertainty and decision-making stress\nFamiliarity with less common safeguarding scenarios helps clinicians act decisively and safely under pressure.\n\nPlease note that\, at our trainer’s request\, the recording will be shared only with those who have a paid booking and won’t be available to purchase later.
