SUMMARY:Dressing Selection
DESCRIPTION:This half day online session is for all healthcare practitioners. The session will explore the multiple variables\, key factors and assessment needed when considering dressing selection. There will be discussion regarding the various types of dressings on your formularies\, including how they work\, what they do\, indications and contraindications.  The session will also explore the importance of holistically assessing patients to aid appropriate and optimal care planning to maximise patient outcomes. There will be patient scenarios and wound photos to aid/embed learning. \nAims\nIn this session learners will: \n\nRefresher on wound assessment (TIMES) and tissue types\nEnhance/gain understanding of the role of dressings and cleansing solutions in wound care\nRecognise and understand the importance of the local Wound Care Formulary\nBasic rules of ordering\, storing and disposal of products\nGain a deeper understanding of the different groups of dressings\, how to use them\, when to use them and contraindications\nDevelop knowledge of resources and how to gain more learning and understanding of dressings\nDiscuss patient scenarios with wound photos\n\nThe session provides delegates with the opportunity to ask questions \nObjectives\nThis session will provide the learner with increased confidence and knowledge necessary to understand dressing selection. \nNB: The session will\, however\, not deem a learner ‘competent’. The trainer will provide some guidance on how to progress through a generic ‘competency’ framework\, and the attendee should seek help from their local Tissue Viability team to access any local policies\, documents and tools to support the learning that may be available. \nPrevious Delegate Feedback\n“Matt was engaging\, very knowledgeable and made it an enjoyable learning experience. Showing dressings that are on different formularies was helpful.” \nThis event is not being recorded
