SUMMARY:Saying No & Managing Unrealistic Patient Expectations - A course for all clinicians
DESCRIPTION:This session is for all clinicians who undertake patient consultations. \nAims\nSaying no to patients is something most clinicians wrestle with – after all\, we were trained to be helpful and try to solve problems and saying can feel wrong. But sometimes patient expectations are unrealistic and we need to help them to set appropriate boundaries. Furthermore\, increasingly\, with longer and longer waits across every aspect of the health system\, sometimes their expectations are reasonable\, but we simply cannot deliver what they are hoping for – and if we try to “rescue” these situations their expectations of what we can deliver will increase further and it can be even harder to set boundaries\, which can contribute to the very real risk of clinician burnout. This webinar aims to help delegates to manage these tricky situations. \nObjectives\nIn this thought provoking and interactive workshop\, we will share some models and techniques that can help us all to feel more confident in setting appropriate boundaries with patients and draw on our own experiences to help manage conflicts that may crop up while dealing with this challenging group of patients. Delegates will receive access to post session resources to support this training. \nPrevious Delegate Feedback\n“A really helpful supportive session that has made me reflect on the way I consult. thank you” \nThis event is not being recorded
