SUMMARY:Managing Gastrointestinal Conditions in Primary Care
DESCRIPTION:Get up to speed with common gastrointestinal conditions that patients may present with. This dynamic refresher session is tailored for Practice Nurses and Allied Health Professionals who wish to sharpen their assessment skills in gastro conditions. \nAims\nThis training covers a wide range of presentations\, focusing on evidence-based assessment and management along with safe practice. Delegates will learn how to take a focused and effective GI history\, recognise and understand common gastrointestinal conditions and their treatment\, and know when – and how – to refer patients for specialist care. \nObjectives\nBy the end of this session\, participants will be able to: \n\nUnderstand basic anatomy and physiology of the GI system\nIdentify common presentations: reflux\, IBS\, IBD\, constipation\, diarrhoea\, etc.\nRecognise red flag symptoms you can’t miss\nUnderstand the referral criteria for secondary care\nDemonstrate practical tips for safe\, efficient management in primary care settings\n\nContent\n\nOverview of History Taking\nA focused review of how to take an effective gastrointestinal history\, with an emphasis on symptom analysis and patient presentation.\nRecognising Red Flags\nIdentification of symptoms and signs that may indicate serious or urgent GI conditions requiring prompt referral or intervention.\nCommon Gastrointestinal Conditions and Their Management\nExploration of frequently encountered GI issues in primary care\, including their diagnosis\, initial management\, and treatment options.\nVirtual Reality Scenario\nAn immersive\, interactive scenario designed to apply your knowledge in a realistic clinical setting—reinforcing decision-making and communication skills.\n\nPlaces are limited to ensure an optimal\, focused learning experience for attendees. \nPrevious Delegate Feedback\n“I found this course extremely helpful in the assessment and considerations of various presentations” \nThis event is not being recorded
