SUMMARY:Removal of Stitches and Staples for HCAs
DESCRIPTION:This half day workshop is provided for HCAs and HCPs in Primary care who are currently removing sutures and staples and feel they would benefit from some theoretical learning and evidence of practice; or it has been identified as a potential new learning need. The workshop will explore the knowledge and skills needed to risk assess a wound prior to removing sutures or staples. All delegates attending this workshop will receive a competency framework for their portfolios of evidence to be observed by their Assessor and signed off in practice. \nAims and Objectives\nThe objectives of this live\, online\, instructor led course are to: \n\nrecognise signs and symptoms of wound infection\nappreciate infection control principles for wound care\naccurately assess a wound prior to removal of wound closure material\nidentify the different types of sutures\nsafely remove sutures or staples from a wound\nprovide patients with post treatment information

SUMMARY:Imposter Syndrome with John Perry
DESCRIPTION:Imposter Syndrome is the experience that many high-achieving people have of feeling a fraud\, of not deserving their success\, a fear of being ‘found out’\, of not being as competent as other people think they are. It is characterized by chronic self-doubt\, feeling phoney\, attributing success to luck or other external factors\, feeling unable to live up to expectations\, etc. \nThe best evidence is that it effects women more often than men and people from humble origins more than those from more privileged backgrounds. \nMany people who experience imposter syndrome prioritize self-esteem (which has to be earned) over self-worth (which is innate). The solution therefore is to encourage unconditional self-acceptance and a focus on recognizing our innate self-worth rather than chasing ever-higher self-esteem. \nAims\n\nTo help participants understand what Imposter Syndrome is and why it occurs.\nTo support practice staff to develop healthier self-perception and confidence.\nTo promote unconditional self-acceptance and recognition of innate self-worth.\nTo provide practical tools to reduce self-doubt\, guilt and shame in professional life.\n\nContent\nThis interactive\, three-hour workshop will provide an overview of the causes of and remedies for Imposter Syndrome\, including: \n\nThe crucial difference between self worth and self-esteem\nOvercoming guilt and shame\nHow to break the habit of constantly assessing yourself and your performance\nMoving from self-reproach to self-acceptance\nSubstituting ‘could’ for ‘should’ e.g. rather than\, ‘I should exercise more’; substituting ‘I could exercise more’.\nMoving from proving oneself to valuing oneself.\nSubstituting a focus on being interesting to a focus on being interested.\n\nThe facilitator will be John Perry\, MA\, MA\, MA\, MSc\, FHEA. John has delivered coaching\, workshop facilitation and consultancy to a wide range of world-class organisations\, including financial services\, media\, manufacturing\, government\, policing\, and health services \nPrevious Delegate Feedback\n” A really good session\, well-structured and comprehensive. SUMMARY:Heavy Menstrual Bleeding - A Half Day Update for GPs & AHPs
DESCRIPTION:This half-day update is designed for experienced GPs & AHPs working in Primary Care who manage women presenting with heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) across the reproductive life course. \nAims\nThe session focuses on refining clinical decision-making\, optimising investigation and management pathways\, and maintaining clinical safety in the assessment of HMB. The session will also include management of unscheduled bleeding on HRT. Emphasis is placed on differentiating benign from concerning presentations\, appropriate use of investigations\, and evidence-based first- and second-line management within General Practice. \nCase-based discussion is used throughout to explore common diagnostic and management dilemmas\, referral thresholds\, and shared decision-making in complex or co-morbid patients. \nLearning Outcomes\nBy the end of this session\, participants will be able to: \n\nCritically evaluate presentations of heavy menstrual bleeding\, including age-related and co-morbid risk factors\nApply a structured\, guideline-driven approach to history-taking\, examination and investigation in women with HMB\nConfidently identify red flags and determine appropriate urgency and routes of referral to Gynaecology\nConfidence in assessment and management of unscheduled bleeding in patients using HRT.\nOptimise medical management of HMB in primary care\, including tailoring treatment to patient preference\, fertility wishes and co-morbidities\nUse NICE NG88 and related national guidance to support safe\, evidence-based management and referral decisions\nNavigate challenging consultations using a patient-centred\, shared decision-making approach\, including discussions around treatment expectations\, side effects and long-term planning\n\nThis event is not being recorded
